Monterra was founded in 2012 on the basis of an undeniable admiration for almighty Mother Nature, and the desire to bring exceptional wines to Australian tables and beyond.

At the heart of Monterra is our decades-long relationships with our growers; custodians of ancient soils and guardians of vines that reach for the sun and stars. Nurturers of hard-won soil magic that’s the true root of it all.

South Australia’s bountiful wine regions are where we find our sprawling home, from the northern point of the Barossa, to the Adelaide Hills, and McLaren Vale and the Fleurieu Peninsula down south.

Our Ethos

When you’re this spoilt for choice, why limit yourself to just one blossoming region?

And so it is that small parcels of tenderly grown, family-farmed fruit are passed along to our winemaker Daniel Zuzolo, destined to become elegant Monterra wines.

For us, the producer, and yourself, the wine lover, we find middle ground with a bottle on the table - that subtle everyday celebration of everything falling into place.

our M-Block range throws the focus on pure and powerful varietals sourced from the heart of the Fleurieu Peninsula.

Hills & Vale by Monterra
Adelaide Hills and Mclaren Vale Wines

These wines are from - you guessed it - the iconic McLaren Vale and adjoining Adelaide Hills region. The first is blessed with a true Mediterranean climate, enjoying cooling sea breezes and a range of soils that produce over forty identifiable microclimates. Moving north and rising in altitude, find yourself in the Adelaide Hills, one of South Australia’s coolest wine growing regions, providing prime growing conditions for elegant reds and mineral-driven whites.

Current varietals: Blanc de Blancs, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Shiraz & Cabernet Sauvignon.

Reserve by Monterra
Premium Shiraz

Crafted for those special moments - or simply to offer a satisfying end to a long day - our Reserve range produces premium varietal wines with a high proportion of A-grade classified fruit. An old hand at composing premium Shiraz, our Jimmy Watson-winning winemaker Daniel Zuzolo hand selects parcels of the highest calibre fruit. Prior to blending, the selected parcels are fermented separately in French oak hogsheads, producing rich, smooth and powerful wines. With both Reserve McLaren Vale and Barossa Shirazes in the range, these are Monterra wines for unashamed Shiraz lovers.

Élevage by Monterra
Ultra Premium Regional Wines

Calling on equal parts instinct and experience, the Art of Élevage is the skill of raising wines to completion - a state of wholeness that blurs the lines between science and craftsmanship. The Élevage range is produced with 100% A-Grade, barrel select fruit, aged in tight grain French oak hogsheads, and including more new oak than any other range. Whether single varietals or expert blends, the wines of this pinnacle range allow our winemaker Daniel Zuzolo to flex his many practical years of winemaking for a range that epitomises extraordinary winemaking, releasing limited wines of intense flavour, complexity and length. Producing regional Shiraz from McLaren Vale, you’ll find a delicious Vale Shiraz Tempranillo in the mix too, ideally suited to our Mediterranean climate and cuisine.
